I. Drafting

A. Draft Logistics

  1. Draft will be held on the Saturday before Labor Day unless otherwise specified.
  2. Each owner has one (1) minute to announce a draft pick after the previous selection has been made. If the owner does not make a pick in the alloted amount of time, the next owner goes on the clock. The late drafter is free to make his selection at any time on a "first come, first served" basis.

B. Draft Order

  1. A lottery will be held before the draft to determine picking order. First round is in ascending order, then second round in descending order. All other rounds alternate in the same fashion.
  2. Any owners joining the league after the draft lottery has been held will pick last. An equal-weighting lottery will be held immediately before the draft if there are multiple late entries.

C. Player Positions

All teams must draft the following positions (in any order they please)
  • 3 Quarterbacks
  • 4 Running Backs
  • 5 Wide Receivers
  • 2 Tight Ends
  • 6 Defensemen
  • 2 Place Kickers

D. Position Eligibility

  1. A player's position is determined by documentation published before the draft stating that he will be playing that position this season.
  2. A player eligible for multiple positions may be drafted at any one of them, and the owner need not announce this position at the time of the selection.
  3. A player eligible for multiple positions may be moved between positions during the season provided that all required positions remain filled by the beginning of each week.
  4. A player can only start at his designated position.

II. Weekly Teams

A. Starting Teams

Each week, each owner chooses his starting team. This must be done before any games are played (even if they do not effect an owner's players). If the owner does not change his starting team, it will remain the same as the previous week.

B. Starting Players

Starting teams consist of:
  • 2 Quarterbacks
  • 2 Running Backs
  • 3 Wide Receivers
  • 1 Tight End
  • 5 Defensemen
  • 2 Place Kickers
Also, each owner chooses one player from two of the following three positions:
  • Running Back
  • Wide Receiver
  • Tight End
Example: In addition to the standard team, Owner A adds a wide receiver and a tight end. He may not, however, add two wide receivers.

C. Restrictions

Due to the complex nature of starting teams, the commissioner cannot and will not make any assumptions on week to week changes. Each owner must take full responsibility for his team.

III. Roster Moves

A. Post-draft

  1. If done before the start of the season, players that have been cut from their NFL teams may be replaced for free.
  2. Players on injured reserve or otherwise ineligible before the start of the season may be replaced after the draft for the standard transaction fee.
  3. Transactions for a given week are based on the NFL rosters at the beginning of the week's first game. The reserved player must be disabled or otherwise inactive at that time. If not, the transaction is automatically voided.

B. Players on Injured Reserve

  1. If a player is placed on Injured Reserve by his NFL team, or has been listed on the official NFL Injury Report as 'out', his owner may pick a replacement player. When the injured player returns, it is assumed that the replacement player is cut from the team unless the owner states otherwise.
  2. The replacement player may also be on Injured Reserve, but the owner cannot pick up another player for him (i.e., that roster space will remain empty until one player returns.)
  3. A replacement player may remain on a team until the injured player is off the Injured Reserve list or plays and receives a statistic.
  4. Players cut or otherwise rendered ineligible are treated in the same manner as injured players.

C. Trades

  1. Trades made before the first kickoff of the week will be in effect that week. Trades made after the first kickoff will be in effect the following week.
  2. Any number of players may be traded, but each owner must have all required positions filled at the end of the trade.
  3. A player placed on Injured Reserve may be traded before his owner picks a replacement player, but not afterward.
  4. Trading deadline is the first kickoff of Week 14 (out of 17).

D. Waiver

Each owner is allowed to waive (and subsequently replace) one player on his roster at any time during the season. The waiver is subject to a $5 transaction fee, and the owner must not owe more than $25 to the league for past transactions and entry fees.

IV. Scoring

A. Ranking

Year-end totals for each of 8 categories are ranked from 1 (highest) to X (lowest) where X is the number of owners. Ties use the average (e.g. three-way tie for fourth, each team gets (4+5+6)/3 = 5 points). Lowest total from the sum of all eight categories wins.

B. Categories

The eight categories are:
  1. Yards Passing
  2. Yards Rushing
  3. Yards Receiving
  4. Touchdowns scored or thrown minus interceptions thrown
  5. Kicking points (1 for a PAT, 3 for a FG)
  6. Sacks
  7. Interceptions caught
  8. Tackles (Unassisted)

C. Crossover Statistics

All starters' statistics count toward all categories (e.g. a running back's throw on a halfback option counts towards passing yards.)

V. Money

A. Entry Fee

The entry fee is $30 ($5 for newspapers and postage) to enter payable to treasurer on draft day.

B. Roster Moves

There is a $2 fee for each trade (per team) and/or roster move, with $0.50 going to the commissioner as a transactions charge.

C. Purses

Expressed as a percentage of entry and transaction fees minus commissioner expenses.

If less than 12 owners:

  • 1st place: 60%
  • 2nd place: 30%
  • 3rd place: 10%

If 12 or more owners:

  • 1st place: 50%
  • 2nd place: 30%
  • 3rd place: 15%
  • 4th place: 5%

VI. Disclaimer

The commissioner has the right to void any ridiculously one-sided trade or rule on any situation not covered above. Any judgement made by the commissioner may be overturned by a majority vote of the owners. The commissioner is responsible for at least attempting to form a consensus of opinion before any rulings.

These rules are subject to change up to draft day with a majority vote of the owners. All absentee owners are responsible for obtaining proxies for any votes taken on draft day.

These rules were last updated on August 6th, 2000
